My birthday is coming up, I'll be 36. The only way that I remember my age anymore is that me and my daughter are 30 years apart. Even though, sometimes I still forget and make myself at least 3 years older than what I really am. I don't know why I do this so please don't ask. :)
Well, as we all know, with little girl birthdays come birthday parties. This year, she wanted a slumber party. Easy enough, however she is 6 and doesn't have many friends who stay over so I had to think of a way to make her very small and "exclusive" slumber party that consisted of her and 1 of her cousins, seem like the biggest birthday bash ever and I think I was successful.
Here is what I came up with:
Being a single mom, I have to stay within a budget. I have these grandiose ideas, however, my wallet can't quite compete with them so I have to find a way to make it work. This year as I was compiling all 10,000 of my decorating ideas, I decided to try and stick with simple decorations like streamers, poms poms, fans, etc, and just make the most of them.I found this streamer garland on A Bit Of Sunshine blog and absolutely fell in love with it so I knew that I had to somehow incorporate it. The garland was actually my favorite part of all of the decorations. It took forever to complete but to me the strong presentation made it worth it. For the wall I simply hung streamers from floor to ceiling alternating colors, hung 2 pom pom garlands and then used a couple hanging decorations from Party City to try and cover the ceiling fan.
Our kitchen isn't that large but I had just enough space. The dining area isn't quite symmetrical but I think it worked just fine. My daughter loved it and so did her party guest (she had a very small craft party before her slumber party).
Thank you to my wonderful friend, Renee over at R.Watson Photography, for the awesome photos! She rocks and we absolutely LOVE her<3!!
